SALLE CHURCH
A late linocut for a wedding invitation.
Saint Peter and Paul Salle is a large, exceptionally fine, early fifteenth century Norfolk church with a 126 foot tower visible over a wide area. Here it is a windy day. The tower has been blown onto its side and is being bowled along in the gale. Saint Peter and Paul pilot the church through the air, streaming banners. The sun spins in the midday sky like a catherine wheel, billowing flames. Stars and planets race along tracks that are bent by the solar wind.
The time of the wedding is on the church clock.
