THE APPLE GIRL

A linocut dating from about 1963, engraved for my future wife. The girl emerges from under a canvas canopy which is stretched over a small courtyard with sloping sides. She is entwined in the branches of an ash tree. Apples spill from a bowl she is carrying. A stream flows from a culvert. The verse is from the second chapter of the Song of Songs.

Linocut. Block size 450mm x 450mm (18ins x 18ins). Printed by John Grice at the Evergreen Press.
